ASHLEY'S VISION FOR AN INCLUSIVE, ACCESSIBLE ANN ARBOR
Ashley first came to Ann Arbor over a decade ago because of the promise our community holds for opportunity, connection, culture, and innovation. As we move from this decade into the next, we are facing many challenges: affordability, accessibility, and climate resiliency. Our community has the people, resources, and the innovative drive to proactively address these challenges. Ashley loves Ann Arbor, and believes our city should be a leader across industries and on policy, and she'll work with anyone ro turn this vision into a reality.
HOUSING:
Ann Arbor must build more housing of all types to meet the needs of working families, older adults, and those who provide essential services in the city. By increasing housing options near jobs, transit, and services, we can reduce pressure on costs, while allowing for gentler growth in our beloved neighborhoods. Thoughtful zoning reform and predictable processes will allow us to grow responsibly, confront our housing shortage, and ensure more people can afford to call Ann Arbor home.
AFFORDABILITY:
Affordability is about making it possible to everyone to live, work, and thrive in this great city. Ann Arbor currently has 1200 units of affordable housing being built or in the pipeline, but we need even more. We must expand housing options and opportunity, strengthen support for middle-income and workforce residents, strengthen and expand renter rights to include a right to organize, and ensure we are doing everything possible to maximize our supply of public, affordable housing, while continuing to provide critical supportive services. Ashley will advocate for creating opportunity for everyone, not just the privileged few.
CLIMATE RESILIENCY & ENERGY:
Climate leadership starts locally. Ann Arbor has set ambitious goals with A2Zero — but 2030 is just around the corner. We must continue to take meaningful, sustainable local action, continuing to build our our new sustainable energy utility to provide residents with a clean, reliable, and affordable alternative, expanding neighborhood geothermal, and expanding the incredible work being done in the Bryant neighborhood and in other parts of the city.
CITY SERVICES & INFRASTRUCTURE:
A growing city requires infrastructure that keeps pace. Proactively investing in roads, water systems, and transit ensures reliability and safety for residents. Ashley will advocate for delivering high-quality services, efficiently and sustainably.
PARKS:
Ann Arbor’s parks are a part of the identity of our city. They are woven into the fabric of our neighborhoods, shaping our quality of life and reflecting the values of a community that prioritizes connection, health, and greenspace. They are also essential infrastructure. By investing in maintenance and accessibility improvements, we can ensure that future generations enjoy the same natural beauty and community spaces that make our city special.
GOOD GOVERNANCE:
Ann Arbor residents deserve clear priorities, transparency, and meaningful public engagement. By focusing on data, accountability, and collaboration across the city, Ashley believes we can ensure Ann Arbor’s government works effectively and earns the trust of the community.
RENTERS' RIGHTS:
Protecting renters’ rights requires effective enforcement, clear policy, and accountability. Ashley supports the recent ordinance to create rent transparency that eliminates hidden fees, requires clear disclosure of any optional fees and bans all mandatory tenancy fees, as well as the progress made in collaboration with the Tenants Union to enact a local Tenants Bill of Rights Ashley will work with renters to ensure their voices are heard, and that the city is accessible for all of our neighbors and residents, including renters.
