​Ashley Hall was born and raised in a working-class family in Southeast Michigan. From a young age, she understood the importance of hard work, showing up for your neighbors, and doing your part to strengthen the community around you. As a first-generation college student, Ashley worked her way through Michigan State University, holding organizing, nonprofit, and labor roles while earning her education. That experience shaped her belief that opportunity should be earned through dedication and not determined by circumstance. After college, she interned in the Obama White House for the Domestic Policy Council, where she saw firsthand how thoughtful public policy can expand opportunity and improve people’s daily lives.

After college, Ashley continued her commitment to public service. She served as Political Director for Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, helping connect residents to the political process and build coalitions around progressive, community-centered priorities. She later led fundraising and coalition-building efforts for the American Cancer Society in Washtenaw County. Having seen chronic illness affect friends and family, Ashley is deeply committed to advancing accessible, equitable, affordable healthcare and supporting groundbreaking research.

Today, Ashley serves as Director of Board Operations for the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners, where she leads operations and communications at the heart of local government. She has worked across federal, state, and local institutions, and understands that effective governance requires collaboration, transparency, and listening. These are the values she hopes to bring to the Council table to serve Ward 3 and the entire City of Ann Arbor.

Outside of work, Ashley is completing her Master of Public Affairs at the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy. She lives in the Forestbrooke neighborhood with her husband, Abhishek, and their two dogs, Zeus and Kochi.
